While we don't have a formal records management training for new employees, I do tell them not to shred anything until they have checked with me first! We do have a couple of clerks in our state that do records trainings for their employees.
Training for new employees
I have never done this, but i'm interested in what you have discovered. Please share whenever you can!
We conduct training 1-2 times per year. We have one class targeted for employees and one for supervisors. The content is similar, but with a slightly different focus. We try to explain what to do, and show pictures of what NOT to do!
We have a basic records managemen handout for new people, and I try to go over it with them personally, as well as introducing them to the CORE Schedule. I've done a training for all staff via a team challenge done by e-mail over the course of 3 months.
Do you feel an iCompass Records Management Webinar Series would be beneficial for clerks and local government professionals? Starting with the the basics of Records Management?
